Many smokers looking for an alternative to cigarettes, have questions about the nicotine content of vaping devices, when compared to traditional cigarettes. How many puffs of vape is equal to a cigarette? How many puffs a day is normal for vaping?
Before we get into these, let’s go back to basics, and explore exactly what nicotine is. In essence, nicotine is a chemical compound found in tobacco. Because it’s the main ingredient found in this plant, it goes without saying that it’s the key ingredient of many tobacco products, like cigarettes, smokeless tobacco, cigars, hookah tobacco, and most e-cigarettes and vapes. Nicotine is a stimulant that affects the brain, which explains why it is difficult to quit smoking.
Just how much nicotine is in a cigarette?
On average, most cigarettes contain about 10 to 12 milligrams of nicotine per cigarette. This obviously varies depending on the brand of the cigarette. Some can contain about 6 milligrams of nicotine, with others reaching up to 28 milligrams. Now not all of the nicotine is inhaled; as the cigarette burns, some of the nicotine is released. It’s estimated that an average smoker inhales about 1 to 2 milligrams of nicotine in an entire cigarette. The number of puffs in a cigarette also depends on various factors, like how often the smoker inhales, how big of a puff they take, and how long the cigarette burns.
What nicotine does
Being a stimulant, it’s quite simple – nicotine alters your brain’s chemical functions in a way that leaves you wanting more of the substance, hence, making it difficult to quit. More specifically, it mimics both acetylcholine (which makes you feel more energized) and dopamine (the feel-good chemical of the brain). There’s no wonder your body begins to crave this stimulant that makes it feels so good!
When purchased from a reputable retainer like Vaper’s Corner, vapes offer a safer and more efficient way of obtaining these feel-good sensations.
When looking for a top-quality vaping device, it’s important to shop at a reputable retailer, like Vaper’s Corner, where you’re assured of the best quality products, and practical, useful advice.
We’ve already discussed what to look for in the device’s heating chamber, and the best vaporizer materials to ensure an optimal experience. Now let’s look at what else a vaper needs to consider when looking for a good, safe device.
#3 – Ability to control the temperature
A good vaporizer will have multiple temperature settings because different levels of heat will produce different types of vapour, and affect the flavour. A good quality vaporizer will give you the option of at least a few different temperatures, so you have control over the taste and effect of the material inside. Cheaper ones simply turn on and provide a one-size-fits-all experience.
#4 – Charge time and battery life
You’ll want at least 10 sessions between charges, and the battery isn’t the only thing that’s important here – the wall unit and cable need to be top quality too. Cheap devices often charge very slowly – not ideal when you have to wait around for your device to charge.
#5 – Is it strong and will it last?
Better devices are made from high-quality materials that, unlike cheap plastic, are made to last. First prize is a device with a warranty to protect you against any unforeseen mishaps. A company that believes in its product will back it up with a guarantee.
If you want a product or device that you can use with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that it’s made with your interests at heart, look no further than Vaper’s Corner.
With the global explosion in the popularity of vaping, comes the unfortunate side effect – a mushrooming of illicit producers and suppliers of vaping products and devices.
While there are plenty of places to shop and plenty of brands to choose from, the selection ranges from excellent, top-quality options, to cheap, shoddy ones. Knowing how to identify the cheap-and-nasty products is important, both from a cost and health perspective.
How to tell a good product from a bad one
So what separates ‘excellent’ from ‘not-so-great’ products? We’ll highlight five of the top tell-tale signs to look out for when purchasing your device, or topping up on your e-liquid.
Before we start, it’s important to note that price doesn’t always equal quality – the most expensive device isn’t necessarily the best. The same goes for e-liquids. Let’s explore the indicators of a good quality product, starting with the heating chamber.
#1 – The heating chamber
The heating chamber must perform well and must be easy to clean. This helps avoid getting old material and flavours stuck in your vaporizer. It’s also important that the chamber heats quickly, and is made of a good quality material like ceramic or stainless steel. Cheap materials can absorb flavours, and are easily damaged.
#2 – The vaporizer material
Like a good BPA-free water bottle, a vaporizer made from medical-grade materials will ensure the vapor you inhale is pure. Remember that you’re essentially inhaling hot air, which you don’t want passing through cheap plastic, creating potentially toxic fumes. You also won’t get a plastic taste along with your vape flavour.
It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of cheap and readily accessible devices and e-liquids, but the bottom line is that it’s always best to purchase your products from a legitimate supplier, such as Vaper’s Corner. We have everything you need for a safe and top-notch vaping experience, without the risk of the unknown.
Your vape is getting grubby and needs a clean. Luckily, this is a very simple process, and in no time you’ll be back to enjoying your favourite e-liquid through a clean and fresh device.
Last time we looked at how to get your tank and mouthpiece sparkly clean and hygienic. Let’s take a look at the coil and battery now.
Cleaning coils and batteries is a little more complicated than cleaning the tank and mouthpiece; you obviously can’t simply dunk them in water.
How do I know my coil needs cleaning or replacing?
A coil lasts between two and four weeks, and you’ll know it’s time, because the e-liquid flavour will taste slightly burnt, and will be a lot weaker. You may also notice that there’s not as much vapour being produced, and the coil may look darker, or leak. This is the time to replace it entirely.
And the battery?
When talking about cleaning the ‘battery’, we mean the chunky mod section of your vape, not the actual battery inside it. This section doesn’t need as thorough cleaning as the tank, but it is nice to spruce it up every now and then.
Now it goes without saying that you won’t clean this in the same way as the tank – submerging the battery (and all of the electrical components) in water is definitely a very bad idea!
All you need to do is wipe down the outside of your mod with a clean cloth or antibacterial wipe, to remove any dirt and germs – nothing more is needed.
Your clean and shiny vaping device is now ready to give you many more months of flavourful fun!
You’ve had your device for a few months, and all of a sudden its performance isn’t great, and it starts feeling a little grubby. Is it time to replace it already – or just time for a proper clean?
While all vapes are different, most have three things in common: a tank, a coil, and a battery. When it comes to cleaning the device, these can all be separated and cleaned individually, getting you back to vaping in no time. In this article, we look at how to keep the tank clean.
The tank is the section that holds your e-liquid. It’s logical that this should be cleaned every time you change your e-liquid flavour. What if I use the same flavour long-term? If that’s the case, aim to clean your tank every few weeks. A clean tank means that you get the very best flavours, whether you switch it up regularly, or stick with the same tried-and-tested favourite.
Disassemble your device – Remove the tank from the battery mod, remove the coil from the tank, and empty out any remaining e-liquid.
If you have any, remove additional pieces, like a mouthpiece for instance.
Place all of the tank components (not the coil or battery) into a bowl of warm water. A dash of dishwashing liquid helps to clean particularly grimy bits. Wash the parts until clean. If you don’t have a proper cleaning kit, an old toothbrush is useful for getting to those hard-to-reach places.
Given the amount of bacteria in human saliva, you may want to spend a little more time and attention on cleaning your mouthpiece to ensure all the germs are dealt with.
Rinse with clean water, and admire your sparkly clean tank!
Wipe everything off with a clean, dry cloth and leave to fully dry.
You’ve decided to try out a disposable vaping device, but you naturally have a few questions. Here’s a quick disposable vape Q&A to get you started.
Q: To buy or not to buy?
A: Because they so closely mimic traditional cigarettes, disposable vapes make the transition a little easier, so the kits are often targeted at people who want to make the transition from smoking. They’re also really convenient, with a user-friendly design. Disposable vapes also provide a mouth-to-lung vaping experience; the same method used by smokers. Experienced vapers who prefer a direct-to-lung experience, probably won’t go for a disposable vape.
Q: Nicotine or not?
A: Yes, disposable vape kits do contain nicotine, of varying strengths. The strength you choose depends on various factors, like your previous smoking experience. It all comes down to personal preference.
Q: Making it last?
A: Again, how long your device lasts comes down to your personal vaping style. Most devices provide you with a puff count that will indicate the device’s expected lifespan, but this is entirely dependent on the individual user. Heavy vapers might find that their disposable kit doesn’t last as long as someone who vapes occasionally. Check out the puff count if this is important to you. If you think you may run out, be safe and carry a spare to ensure that your vaping experience is uninterrupted.
Q: The best of the best?
A: The disposable vape market has continued to expand over the years and there are LITERALLY hundreds of flavours to choose from. Take your time and try as many as you can – you’ll be sure to find something that you like.
Q: Something to keep in mind …
A: Being single use-items, disposable vaping devices aren’t the best for our environment, so it’s important that used devices are disposed of appropriately. Don’t just chuck them in the bin – they still contain a battery that could be harmful if it’s damaged or leaks. Recycle used kits, or contact your retailer to find out whether they have a recycling programme in place.
